Default Upgrading to EFI

Hi guys, I'm making some research to upgrade my RST to EFI but I'm still a bit confused about it. Omex offered me an upgrade package (excluding the inlet manifold) obviously. This is the list of parts:

ECU
Programming kit
Coolant temp sensor
Air temp sensor
Adaptors for ATS and CTS

WIRING OPTIONS

Ready built harness
or
Semi assembled harness
Aux wire pack
2 pin m/t connector
3 pin ford connector
3 pin m/t connector

OPTIONAL PARTS

Injectors
Trigger wheel
Crank position sensor

MAP SENSORS

2.5bar (max 1.5bar boost)
or
3bar (max 2bar boost)

Is this all I need for the upgrade plus the inlet manifold? Do I need anything else from the Fiesta, like wiring loom, ECU, etc? Do you suggest OMEX or MegaSquirt? Thanks

You will need some sort of trigger wheel, either a fiesta flywheel & cps, a 1.8 sierra front pulley and sensor or an aftermarket trigger wheel and sensor. Also the fuel lines will have to be changed to meet the fiesta manifold/fuel rail.

Lots of information on EFI convertions on here...

How much are Omex offering you that for!

Omex also sell trigger wheels which are very easy to mount! They are very helpful people they are only up the road from me

Ł1250 with all the optional parts included, 3 bar map sensor and ready built harness. The injectors are included as well and cost Ł288 and they use something very similar to Fiesta's beige injectors, if I'm not mistaken by Weber instead of Bosch. They also have more powerful injectors (pico-fitment) than the Fiesta's but a bit shorter in length, for the same price, which they told me I can use by shortening the distance between the fuel rail and the inlet manifold.

I'm not from the UK. What injectors do you normally use there guys? I'm aiming for high power and I want to do things right the first time. Do you think that Omex is better than Cossie conversion. And one final question... where can I source (ONLINE) a complete Fiesta Inlet manifold if possible exc. injectors? Thanks

Hi guys, I found this one here on ebay. What do you think? How much do they normally go for?

Omex do make shit hot ECU's but for me personally Ł1250 is a LOT of money. If you can afford it then you can't go far wrong.

That eBay item isn't a FRST one, it has the wrong IAT sensor

So do you recommend the Cossie conversion? Do they use a normal cosworth ecu for that conversion? I mean, will I still need all the parts I listed before? The Omex ecu costs about Ł545. How much does the cossie one cost?

And regarding that inlet manifold... you're saying it won't work on an EFi conversion?

Sorry if I'm asking too many stupid questions guys but I need to do my homework well before spending all that money. Thanks for your help

lol i never said i recommend the cossie conversion? Omex ECU's are good......if you can afford to spend the money get the Omex!!

The inlet will work but it has the wrong Inlet Air Temperature senders, the senders are expensive, and they require a reducer which is no longer available from ford.

keep your eye out a proper FRST one will come up!

But if I use the Omex system will I still need that IAT or will I then use the omex one? And how do you recognise a proper FRST inlet? Thanks

Do omex supply you with an IAT? If you do that would be problem solver.

You can tell by the plug on the IAT, square, not round

If it comes with the IAT then thats all good.

That also isn't a FRST one but it shouldnt be a problem for you now

Thanks SafeChav and all the others for your help

Btw, I might be visiting England next year and I'm gonna stay at Bedfordsire. Do you know if there's any place nearby that might be of interest to a Ford and motorsport enthusiast?
