Default Turbo water feed pipe crack..

found a crack on the elbow of the metal water feed pipe for the turbo..

i thought instead of buying a new pipe.. id hacksaw the pipe at the crack and rejoin it using some samco silicone hose i have of the same size.

my question is...will the silicone hose withstand the temperature the turbo will produce?

cheers in advance

You`d be better off getting your pipe brazed, in my experience they usually crack where its welded to the banjo union.
Shouldnt be a problem for an experienced welder to do this.

yeh id like to get it welded but the whole point i wanna repair with a hose is cuz i can do this at home and just put the pipe back on. instead of taking it somewhere to get welded or buy a new one.

cheers for the advice though

Should be fine........cars like R5 turbos have rubber hoses right to the core.

Go for it

Give it a go as a new pipe is £50 from fords - if it doesn't work then get it welded - it would be the cheaper option .........

You need to find out why it cracked first.
Silicone is a very high temp material so will be fine, as this is actually what it was designed for high temp situations.

I know it's the metal that cracked, just put a silicone over the good uncracked bit.
