Default One for the Electronics people.....

Hello. If i wanted to wire a couple of small high speed fans into my car, how would i go about doing this?

I wanted to put a switch in the car, but im not sure what other bits i need, apart from wire.

Can i just run a postive from the battery, into the switch, then from the switch (with an inline fuse) to the fans? then run the negative to the body of the car?

as you can tell, im total bollox with electrics, so some info would be good.
Cheers
Mike

The current draw of the fans would be too great to just run from a switch, you would end up melting the switch. You need to install a relay that can cope with the current draw of the two fans and control the relay from the switch.

If you know the current of the fans, and can get a switch that says more, then that will be OK. EXCEPT - fuse must be right next to the battery, and deffo before the wire goes through the bulkhead.

nah, only 5 amps. So would it be ok run a wire straight from the battery, into the car with an inline fuse, then the switch, then into both fans?
