Brake Fluid, whats recommended?
As title, I have a 1997 mk6 escort with 285mm front 4 pot caliper wilwoods and ST170 280mm rear disks (ABS) and wondered whats the best brake fluid for mostly road use?
Will Dot 4 be fine or should I go Dot 5.1 ?
This is what I have been looking at http://www.apracing.com/car/brakefluid/index.htm
also how much would I need when I replace my brake fluid with the new stuff?
Cheers for any advice/info
Steve

don't use the silcon one
or the ones they use in citroens
otherwise theres nothing wrong with dot4
bank on using a bit more than a litre as you want to put new stuff in before draining the old stuff out, this prevents problomatic air locks in the system (especially with the abs stuff)
once it's clear coming out then go to the next one and so on and so forth
just remember to bleed the one furhtest away from the m/c first

On a road car I dont think you would use that type of fluid to its full potential (boiling point range).
Try to stick to mineral rather than silicone based fluid.
Any DOT4 or DOT 5.1 fluid will be fine, just look at its price and compare it to its heat range. On a road car its a waste (as such) to have the highest heat range as your car will never see them temps.

Ive seen this dot 5.1 as I have ABS http://www.apracing.com/car/brakeflu...sp?code=CP4510 and it mentions "Suitable for High Performance Road Applications including vehicles fitted with ABS" but I don't think I would class my car as a High Performance one
but the dot 4 doesn't mention ABS systems
That Castrol SRF is about Ł35 per 1ltr
