Default Oil question. . .

Yes another one. After reading several threads about which oil to use on my S1, the general feeling was that 15w 40 was the way to go. (Which is what i've been using). Was in Halfrauds the other day and the Magnatec 0w 40 was recommended for older (pre 1990) engines. Looked at the manufactures recommendation for the RS Turbo in the little flip down book and that says 5w 40. This recommendation would be when the car was new i presume or will they update them as cars get older ?
Don't know much about oil but i was lead to believe 0w is too thin is'nt it ? If so why is Magnatec 0w 40 recommended for older cars ?

It's chipped to around 180bhp. This means 15w 40 is better then for mine then ?

Im not 100% sure mate the best thing to do is to give the oilman a PM and he will tell you exactly what grade oil to use for your engine/spec

Some people run slightly higher grades to help keep the top end quiet aswell, the thinner the oil the more noise a worn top end will make (only cos its a shitty CVH )

As Antony has already said i'd give oilman a PM
