RS Turbo Kit car - minor technical difficulties + Pics
Sorry, but i feel i posted this msg in the wrong place to begin with!
Hey guys! 1st post or so in freakin ages! I need some advice on this engine im putting in my kit car! I got hold of an Series 1 RS turbo engine and so far have cleaned it up and put the engine in, currently in the process of hacking the wiring loom and fitting intercooler and pipe work etc. Ive just had the inlet manifold done and i think its come out pretty well, still needs a clean mind! The block is a fiesta bottom end, the rest is all S1 RS Turbo stuff. My m8 mentioned this engine on here a while back 2 find out exactly what it was.
I was wondering if someone has a S1 RS Turbo wiring loom diagram to hand as i cant find one anywhere!, the Ford agents arent willing to hand them out, ive tried!
Does the KE-Jetronic system use a Lambda Sensor??
The inlet manifold on there atm is from an XR3i and still has the butterfly body attached, if i fit the TPS switch to it can i adjust the ECU to take into account the larger sized butterfly?
Why does the RS Turbo have 2 ECU's (black and silver). The only diagrams i have seen only show the use of one?
Can someone identify the Turbo on the engine, its a Garrett AIResearch T3 with an A/R of .42, but looking on google, i havent come across one of this style on other RST's It has a 2 bolt fixing on the inlet side which the actuator bracket fixes to. On the outlet side it also has a 2 bolt fixing for the boost pipe to attach to. It is not watercooled.
Ive never driven an RST before and dont know how the engine behaves, can some1 tell me what rpm the turbo comes into play and what they are kinda like to drive on standard tune and also with around 170bhp? If the bottom end is good i have intentions to do some mild porting, cam and adding solid lifters to give me a rev happy engine!
If you guys could answer some of those questions i will be more than happy! cheers.
