i've got a new job, starting in just over a week.
And i'm having to sign a contract, which is a first for me.


So whats the minimum amount of days do employers have to pay?

is it 20 days, and do they have to pay Bank Hols?

 

HI mate - depends on whether you are full or part time. I wrote the contracts for a mate of mine.

If you are full time, and not on shift work, then you are generally entitled to 20 days min plus bank holidays.

If it is shift work, then I believe that they have to give you additional time off for b holidays. What kind of hours are you doing?

Full time, between 40 -60 hours depending on work load.


So is Bank hol's a most for them to pay? so its 27 days Hols total a year?


i got told today by someone i work with, that 23 days total is the minimum.

You do not have a statutory right to paid leave on bank and public holidays. If paid leave is given on a bank or public holiday, this can count towards your four weeks minimum holiday entitlement. There are eight permanent bank and public holidays in Great Britain.

If you work on a bank or public holiday, there is no automatic right to an enhanced pay rate. What you get paid depends on your contract of employment.

If full-time workers get paid leave on a public holiday, part-timers who don’t normally work on that day have the right to paid time off on another day, proportionate to the hours they work.

I always thought its the companies decision on what amount of holiday you get/they entitile you to I know people who only get two weeks paid holiday a year, I have worked for my employer for 15 years and i get 26 days or 5 weeks and 1 day a year, one i get to 20 years if i get that far my entitilement will go up to 6 weeks a year,

personally i think we should all get 40 weeks a year

Employment contracts are a night mare! I'm currently writing one up as I got a new guy starting soon. Now I'm sitting on the other side of the fence as an employer its very different. basically its all about be fair from both sides.
