Default Old Skool First Car?

Is a mk 1/2 Escort 1300 a reasonable first car, what about a basic engined granada? I tried a quote on a 2.0 or 2.5 Custom(cant remmember which) and it wasn't too bad.
What about a zodiac?
As you can tell I like big cars that aren't fast, speed is not a prioroty obviously insurance is the deciding factor, going to do about 7000 a year.I once looked at a 1.8 sierra auto but was a bit bland.
What would you suggest?

Cheers

All boils down to budget and how well you can restore a car ..

without restoration it all comes down to budget .. you can pick up mintyish mk2 Granadas for under 2k... 3k being a really goody Allthough they are getting rare now as most have been banger raced .

Zodies... lots of money for good ones

Same as Escorts .. 4 drs are even creeping up in price as mint Mk2's are now fetching big money (anyone got one they dont want????) so like i said ... whats the budget ... and go with 2k on insurance , if it cheaper then you can buy whatever car you get some toys

Budget isnt too much of an issue as my dad even considered an 11K Vauxhall Its the insurance thats the most important thing as I will probably keep the car for a while if i like it
