....how do keap track of all your nuts,bolts & fittings, rubbers etc?

have you got a way of keaping it all in order

food bags with marker telling me whats what and photos so i know what came from where!

Put em all in a big box and just somehow manage to remember where they all go. I didnt have anything spare when I did a nut and bolt rebuild on my last 2wd Cos engine.

i place them all on the shelf/garage floor in a order/groups i think i'll remember. Then normally my old man or brother will knock them and i'm in the shit...

thats why i ask cos we usualy have a dose of scrap cars we get things from but the councils took them away theres nothing on the ground where they once sat & i dont fancy doing that with my s1

but it dont help when you TOTALLY strip a car down for a full inside and out paint job, then over a year later try to put it back together

i think im gonna be a bit fucked on that front lol

thats what im talking about? im ok with engines but its when interior etc comes apart& youve left it for months

its ok if you do it all in one day

well saying that, i helped my mate take the engine out his skyline in may, put it back in in late october lol

i remembered where most of the bolts went lol

had a few spare tho

When my brothers company strips down cars they use cardboard (ceriel box??) and punch the bolts through in order and sellotape nuts onto it. They usually draw an outline of the item the bolts are for as a reference.

if thats confusing i'll try again, lol

I put all mine in marked envelopes so i knew where they would all go

But then i decided to do have everything zinc passivated an i got em all back like this

Just rebuilding the car now and i aint got a clue where most of em go

Usually use re-sealable bags but memory and the fact that every other month im pulling one of my cossies apart helps.

Learnt over time the best thing to do is try and bolt them/place them where they came from after you've taken it off so at least you know where to look.

Realistically, same as most people, you lose some or have some left over
