Help with Car Checks.. Urgent

one of my mates is buying a new car,

i havent heard any bad news from the garage but how do i find out if its had any accidents etc? or can anyone find out from the reg number..

HPI check wont tell you if its had an accident, only if its been declared uneconomical repair/stolen etc

i remeber the aa had something like this but i cant find it.. i am going to have a look at it tonight but thought i would ask,

hpi is loans and stuff isnt it?

You wont be able to tell if its had an accident unless you inspect it
