i know someone who had a phase one and phase two at the same time! the phase two is alot nicer car! but he did love the phase one! he said he liked the unpredictability if its dynamics! he is a race driver though! the phase one broke two gearboxes aswell

i loved/love the phase two! and this is the only one i would buy!

I had the phase 1 for a while got it on the looks really, interior is just like a standard clio (apart from the rear) which is abit of a disappointment, they should of made it as special as the exterior. Brakes were awesome (AP four pots) and it did handle well but that lack of lock gave you no confidence in going sideways. Engine also lacked punch mine was chipped and had an exhaust and it made 220bhp most clio mk1's are around 215bhp even though the book figure is 230bhp.

It got allot of attention and was a fun car but I wouldn't buy another one.

I got quoted Ł450 to supply and fit decat pipes.

The coils are known the be a problem on a mk1 can go anytime I was lucky.

Make sure you get one with the cambelt changed they are due 20k miles and cost 1k for the work

Anything else let me know.

Yeah, it is the interior that is putting me off at the moment too, the phase 2 has a nicer interior but as i said they are a lot more money.

A mate of mine 19 year old has got 1 well sort of lol.

He decided it was a good idea to go out ad get a whopping loans for the it 11k for car and 4k insurance lol, had it less than 2 months and put it through a hedge and into a field. He decided not to claim on his insurance and its now sat on his drive looking sorry for itself

had a mk.1, loved it! crap turning circle and ground clearance, coil pack went after 30k, but very torquey engine, lovely noise, and you will get the ladies in it (if thats your thing!).

Have worked on alot of V6 clios and would go for a phase 2 one as it has more power. Have replaced a few gearboxes on both but the cars did get driven hard. Excelent cars to drive on the road.

I had a Mk1

Have a drive in one is all I'll say. There's plenty of people ready to jump on the 'bad handling' bandwagon but IMO they handle superb.

Only gripes I had were.. they aren't exactly fast and the interior (as said above) was dreadful, nice seats but dash was nasty.

They sound awesome, handle great, look superb and attract attention like nothing else I've owned though. There's just something special about driving one though.

My friend used to have one, handle like a sack, you need to spend proper money on suspension then you actually have an alright car.

Far too sketchy on the original stuff.
