Surely the condition of the engine would hinder the top speed?

But on a sound engine would have thought 145- 158mph

Dont go on what the clocks say............They are always wrong after 110-120mph

I did a GENUINE GPS 154mph at Bruntingthorpe proving ground for Performance ford ...Was a Norris Motorsport Stage 1 on my 3DR

My speedo was only 8mph out @ 162mph

Was showing 170mph speedo reading on a test day at Brunters with Fast Ford mag.

Mine is a stage 3

Depends on the Rev limit and tyre size.

i did going downhill on a private track 158, no wines from diff, no dodgy noises from engine, and thats just a stage 1. I know it was that spped as i sell vehicle tracking and i used the GPS to identify an accurate top spped.

My speedo is pretty much spot on

Courtesy of Gearbox Mans web site.
An excellent Excel spreadsheet that works out your top speed.

This is the info given for my details.
It was my car that hit the Rev limiter in 5th.

Step 1: find out your tyre's rolling radius
(if you already know this value, skip this step and enter it below)
Enter these details:
Width (mm) 205mm
Profile (%) 50%
Rim size (inch) 15inches
Rolling radius (feet) 6.04feet

Step 2: gear ratios
(leave un-used gears blank)
1st 2.915 :1
2nd 1.932 :1
3rd 1.323 :1
4th 1 :1
5th 0.8 :1
6th :1
7th :1
Final: 3.64 :1

Step 3: shift RPM

shift point: 7250 RPM

rev drop speed MPH
1st to 2nd 2361 45
2nd to 3rd 2207 68
3rd to 4th 1709 100
4th to 5th 1400 132
5th top speed 165

i havent seen that site, but does it take weight and aerodynamics into account? as would they not have an effect on calculations?

Mine was running standard wheels and tyres at the time so it was all as Ford intended......

Just before i braked after hitting a GENUINE 154mph the speedo was reading between 165 and 170...... Thats how far out they are. Well mine was.

But i think you only have a good 1.4miles to get your readings at brunters before you have to hit the brakes......... So on a private motorway it would of been a little more i think

When the Speedo hit 150 it was doing 138mph on the GPS......Just so others can gauge what they were REALLY doing

This has no effect on the gearing, it just tells you what speed your car will do at a certain RPM.

I have to agree that some speedo`s are alot out but i think mines is as close as possible as when i was really revving mine racing a fireblade my speedo was saying about 158, and i didnt really want to hold it any longer as i felt it didnt have much more.

My car has 17`s 215/40, fresh rebuild with low comp pistons, little head work, nearly new tt stg2 t35, greens , 500 cooler, 20psi of boost

Surely If anything my speedo may be less
