best i know of is tescos value, £13.97 free modem

https://register.tesco.net/online

failing that, has the person got sky, can get it free with that?

or try carphone warehouse , for the free talktalk service, think you get that when you add the £10 call package to you phone or something like that?

If you have sky, and you pay a one off fee of £40 they give you broadband FREE for 12 months.

I'm also with Sky - customer service is shite, any problems are with something else that isn't anything to do with their broadband and I do get connection problems sometimes. My connection speed is 11mb and I have to say that the swapover was fine though.

I'm probably going to go with NTL when I move, which if it is before then end of Jan (be lucky ) you can get 2mb unlimited broadband for £10 a month (but only for a year, goes to £17 a month after the first year)

Steer clear of TalkTalk, just cancelled an order for bb with them, they can't connect when they say they will, the cust care is crap, when you do finally speak to someone they're either foreign or rude or both, and to cap it all off you get charged for a service which is supposed to be free! Have a search on google for talktalk horror stories, they aint v popular.

Even Comedy Dans "free" statement above works out at £3.33 per month

Plus I bet they then tie you into another 12 month contract for sky services from that start date

Nothing is ever free
