Europe's Fastest Ford Cosworth?
(Tue 28 Nov 06)
British company Turbo Dynamics is responding to a call from Norway to see who can produce the fastest Ford Cosworth in Europe. The two-litre turbo engine originally fitted to the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth produced a maximum of 204bhp in standard form, but this was raised to around 580bhp in the ultimate Touring Car race versions. Touring Car regulations no longer allow turbocharged engines, but development has continued, to the point where Norwegian tuners are now claiming 800bhp.
The Norwegians have suggested a challenge match to see who can build the fastest Cosworth, and Chelmsford-based Field Motorsport Competition Engine Technology has responded with plans to create an 850bhp car. Field Motorsport asked Turbo Dynamics to help, and the result is a massive compressor - about the size of one you would normally find on a truck, and twice as big as the one fitted to the production RS500 - combining the best features of various Garrett turbochargers. This monster produces 40psi of boost, well up on the more normal pressure of around 7psi.
The ultimate Cosworth showdown will take place on a Norwegian drag strip in the near future.

Not that difficult on race Fuel, my new engine has the Turbo & fueling to support that if fitted with different head & cams but would have very little under 6k. Best to cheat & settle for 750 & a 200 shot & be able to use it for work

Sounds a good project!
This is slightly out of context, but that's what usually happens in PR circles!
You can however, see the car in question on the front cover of Performance Ford in the near future as what isn't out of context, is that Tommy IS building a monster engine to put in his Saff.
Combine that and the rest of the spec of it (Beleive me it's dribble-worthy) with the fact he's one hell of a driver and you can see it's a combo that's going to be MEGA to watch!

building a car to support that power is more important than anything, even more so if its going to be decided on a drag strip, a 600hp car could win it with propper chasis work!! engine despute are best left to a dyno cell!!
