Default Want a new dog...Need ideas :D

Right well i moved out recently, and for the past few years have been really used to having a dog around. Have a Bullmastiff at home.

Well i now live in a flat and i'm thinking of getting a dog myself now. Obviously nothing too big or i'd of just brought vinnie my dog with me lol. Thinking bull terrier, irish staff, bulldog (little pricey ) along those lines.

Dog will be alone for a few hours a day but will get walked twice a day without fail, so energetic breeds are fine.

So any ideas

As with all dogs they will need someone with them all the time as pups or you will come back to a destroyed apartment from boredom :cry

lol don't let that make you believe they are all like that

Our last one was fab just like your v.good neverput a foot wrong, our new black lab puppy (well just turned 12months old) has had his chewing stint; table legs, cupboard handles, skirting boards, bed, doors, carpets.... and he was left for no more than 2 hours a day an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon

They are VERY good dogs when trained properly, or when you get a good one lol, but end up with a mischevious one and god help you, coz as i say they are very bloody clever

But even with all that i wouldnt change him for the world, hes a proper character and keeps us all entertained and busy thats for sure!!!

Our little cheeky chappy:

As for which breed, it all depends what you want, do you want a dog you can take for long walks if you ever feel like it, coz smaller dogs you can't obviously...i personally would sit down and write down all the things you do and do not want to do with/want from a dog, then see which breeds would suit you

MattyRST lol you have been blessed defo, but i dont really mind him chewing as a pup, hes started to grow out of it now.....but labs are well known for chewing as puppys

He looks like a very cheeky chappy

you just have to use there brains, and give them things they have to think about as that is the only way to wear them out

i presume you live in a ground floor flat? with a garden? if no id say dont bother, what you gonna do when it needs a wee in the middle of the night

id love a dog, but we dont have a garden and i dont really think its fair putting them in a yard to live, too many people seem to get dogs and think theyre fine in a house all day long, which is totally selfish!!!

not having a go just asking thats all..... but if you got the space, and loadsa energy id say a boxer, id love one, theyre supposed to have a really good temperament too

Boxer. Used to have one myself, fantastic dog.

Beware heart problems, epilepsy and the fact that they NEVER grow up.

No. Almost all pedigrees have inherent problems, years of in-breeding.

Cheers for all the replies

German shepherd, Rotty, Boxers all great dogs but a little too big really.

Staff looking a strong possibility now, have a mate just bred his and their top pedigree so could be putting my name down for 1st pick of the boys

The mums black and the dad pretty much the same colour as yours YoungMatt
