Returning a DVD player to asda with no reciept

i want to return a DVD recorder to asda that i bought months ago and havent removed from the box yet, however, i threw away the reciept.
will they still do it? and give credit?

you only have to prove you brought it from there and the date, as said you just need a statement stating the amount and date and where the money went. not sure about no box tho?

no you dont!
i paid Ł80 cash for it 3 months ago, walked in, with no reciept, box was battered aswell, and i got Ł69.99 credit, and came home with call of duty 3 and a wireless pad charger
well i use to work for them and as long as it came up on the till or still sold it than you could refund it. i.e if it was there own branded item your fine. also what did you pay with. if it was card than it takes 3-4 days to go back on.

dont get involved if you don't know....it doesnt really matter to them if you bought it from them or not, they will sell it on for the same amount anyway they aren't losing any money.
they dont HAVE to do it, but most do....i took something back to debenhams the other day, dont have a clue where it came from initially but they checked it on their system, it showed so they exchanged it.
