Default Any electrics people about?

Basically at random times(im talking months apart) all my hazard lights come on and stay on permanently for sometimes minutes or hours at a time(unless i disconnect the battery of course) But yeah as i say it doesnt happen very often but last time it did was about 6months ago, i took it to fords because i wasnt sure what was up, but of course by the time i got there the hazard lights went off and they couldnt find anything wrong.

Got up this morning looked out the window and i could see an orange glow in the dark disconneted the battery for a few hours then hooked it back up and its fine now.

What the hell is wrong here? its got the standard ford alarm whichever that is ive never really looked into it. I thought maybe this was the issue as all my indictors work seperatly etc, so it cant be a blown bulb or anything like that

Hi there mate
not an expert on automotive electrics but sounds like something in the alarm central box or wiring loom is earthing out somewhere against the body work if possible check all bends kinks or any places where the loom passes through metal for example like the bulk head

Have you checked the hazard lights relay? Sounds like the switch in the relay is fubar.

thats what i was going to say, there is a cap in the relay that can breakdown and make this happen.

I dont think ive ever used the hazard lights in the 2 years ive had the car so should be off.

Actually when i went to the car this morning the little red hazard light button above the steering column was red, but as i said it was off, i wouldnt turn it on after i park on the drive
