Default mis-firing RS500!

Hello all, wonder if anyone can help me, when I really floor the RS500 I am getting a mis-fire, but if I gradually build it up it is fine. I have been told it may be the fuel pump, does this sound about right?

The spec is :

New RS500 block/engine
live mapped
green injectors etc...

It runs fine apart from that!

Thanks

Lee

I will try re-gapping the plugs!

Then I reckon it will be gp A coil, new dizzy cap and a rotor arm...

Took it out today, and seems a bit better, but have decided I am going to change the phase sensor and see what that does....

Then it may be a new fule pump

Still, goes VERY well mind you!!!

Funny you should mention that because I've noticed that mine is doing the same and suffering the same symptoms. I'm trying to get mine booked into Power engineering to get it setup because for some reason with the standard actuator or a -31 my car is producing too much boost and spiking I've also changed the plugs, leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm thinking they would cure it but it looks like it's down to boost spike because once that comes back down it clears and the car flys

My standard actuator has nearly no pre-load at all on it though Is that likely to cause this boost spike problem? I've been considering adding half a hole of pre-load to the standard actuator and seeing how it performs.

I put a -31 on it and a chip and it was peaking at 1.2 bar with 1/2 a hole pre-load. I didn't test it properly because saw 1.2 bar and backed off before seeing if it settled

I removed the -31 before I caused any damage but when I put it back to standard I noticed that the standard one is spiking like this and it got me wondering

I might put the -31 back on tomorrow and give it all another go

the only thing you can do will the amal valve is change the plastic sleeves in the pipe's for different size ones to lower and increasae boost as to much preload on a actuator is not good for the turbo this is how i increase boost pressures via the amal valve not the actuator the amal valve shold click when there is a 12v supply put to it

How do you take the amal valve apart to do that? Are the sleeves still available from Ford?

you cant take them apart mate just look inside the three pipes that are on there iside them will be little white sleeves use a screw in the end of the to with draw them. think they might be but i normally get them from bluesprint in essex. check that the amal valve is working as well mate turn the igniton on and pull the plug off of the amal valve it should click if its working if it dont get a new one

Thanks I'm sure it's working but I'm wondering if someone has been messing with the sleeves in the past. I'll take a look.

no need on stg 1 paul leave the amal valve alone..

its not the coil just a boost spike blowing spark out !!!! re-gap the plugs .6mm

It should hold 1 bar and spike a little higher

a mate of mine had a similar problem and it turned out that someone had removed the 2 plastic sleeves from inside the amal valve! i would say that if yours has been stage 3 or something before and then it was put back to standard before it was sold it could be a similar problem.

Smaller than std, I set PP8's at .6mm never had a problem as for 071c's never used them

its just a case of trial and error depending on your ign system..

Tonight it wasn't raining when I got home so I whipped the plugs out and they were gapped to 1mm When I fitted them a couple of months ago I didn't have any feeler gauges so I fitted them thinking that Ford would have pre-gapped them

They are now gapped to .6mm I've added some pre-load to my standard actuator to see if it brings the spike down and that appears to work. There's still a slight misfire when it spikes but once that comes down it's great. When the engine cools down I'm going to re-fit my -31 actuator and use half a whole pre-load and try again.

Thanks
