i have just purchached a 1990 spec rs escort the person had fitted a big actuater and not set it up so i sent it in to camco and he has set it at 12psi but in 4th and 5th gear it over boosts still 1st 2nd and 3rd fine does this mean i need a chip for this as i was told it was chipped but unknown no proof if this please can anybody help

 

sounds to be overboosting to me mate, better off taking the actuator rod off of the wastegate, screw it out 1/2 turns at a time and testing it, i.e. lenthen the rod.
at around 8-10psi it shouldnt overboost

 

camco said the actuater wont go less than 12 psi would i be better just getting it chipped to take that and would the engine last or wat other mods would i need and wat chip u recomend

 

try unplugging the amal valve for a bit till you get a dash 31 or a chipped ecu

 

any chip will do and get it set up at 15psi once fitted

 

15 psi on standerd moter with no other mods?

 

and if i get a chipped ecu can i just plug it in or do u have to get anythink else done
