Want a rev counter in the escort van. Is it straight forward swap or does wiring need to be added ?

Also Will the glow plug light illuminate?

would think you would need wireing as well.a lot of diesels get the rev counter drive from the alternator,

Straight swap just need to add wire if not already there, it is normally to feed rev counter off alternator.

rev counters in most older diesels run off the W terminal on the alt cos they don't have a coil to run one, so you may need to change your alt if it doesn't have a W terminal on it but it should (it will be the 3 bolt that isn't used on the alt) and you'll need a diesel specific rev counter as well
