hi im intrested in going further with my escort cossie after getting bored of the stage 3 and not wanting to add silly things on for small gains id rather start a fresh build.thats what i want your advise on.the ideal engine power and spec for an excellent fast road and occasional track day engine??i know that over 500hp will be laggy and useless or so i presume?i recon ive got around 360hp at the moment.ive big brakes and coilovers etc.can i have the details and views on this please?the power limit youd recommend and the best spec.its just a toy but it still has to be sumwhat reliable.and ive got a stronger box and diffs.i was also thinking of adding anti-lag to the next unit so id hopefully get alot less lag.

 

I wouldn't bother with ALS - too many track days have noise limits where you wouldn't be able to use it.

Your limiting factors are your gearbox and wallet. What's the box rated at ? How big is your budget ?

 

well i can get a quaife big tooth or an rnd 5 speed fairly easy

I suppose if you got a T38, 750cc injectors, mapped, plus other incidentals (boost hoses/air filter/cam(s)/coil pack/whatever) minus what you could sell on from the previous build, you could be up and running 440ish brake for around £1500.

If you decided you wanted an internally-gated, or even exteral, GT30, then your wallet better be a lot bigger (pistons, head work,cams,etc)

Your best bet is to decide what your budget is and talk to your tuner.

 

speak to the likes of norris for their recomendations, i always thought that for road /trackday use,you didnt need big hp,
Dont spend big money til you've seeked advice,cos you'd be p issed when the likes of a 205 mi16 comes flying past you.!

andys not long built it only done just over a thousand miles but im wanting it faster.was thinking of getting either a t38 or gt30 and doing more to the head

With the help from a my best mates, (jyce, roy) i did the engine my self mate, taking loads of time and a few handy old skool tips i got an awsome diy build, then a new turbo with my greens and cooler, she goes really well seen as it only peeks 23/24 psi and holds 19, i`ve got a "friend" with a t4 for sale, i was maybe gont get it but im happy just now with what i have, would you like it
