Hypothetically just to settle an arguement how would a cossie lump run with a BD10 inlet cam and a BD14 in the exhaust cam?

As above...badly. Why would you want a cam designed to shift more on fitted to the exhaust side when less goes out of the exhaust than what comes in the inlet (hence why exhaust valves are also normaly smaller than inlet valves).

 

That was my point! My mate is having his engine rebuilt and the engine builder wanted to put BD10 inlet and BD14 Exhaust I politely pointed out he hadn't the foggist of what he was going on about.
Just wanted a few opinions from everyone else so I could prove he is wrong.

I've heard of some tuners using a mix 'n' match with BD cams before (cannot remember the exact combination though). There may be merit in using a longer exhaust cam as you are like to be running higher boost than stock and therefore generating more exhaust gases that you want to get rid of sooner. It might also be done to spool up the turbo quicker.

 

This could be correct, as i know of a person who is using the above setup with a T38 and he says it comes on boost very quick.

His engine was built by AVA in Scotland, maybe call them.

i run bd14`s on both with hybrid t4 and it comes on boost alot earlier now the cams have been properly dialled in,was well impressed

I know.....but its what I've got fitted in my head...and just wondered what folk thought?

 

How does it drive with the cams that way round?
