Default My Mk1 Golf project

I thought it was about time i started this thread as a few people have bee asking me t start 1 on the progress so here goes.

I'm in the process of building a mk1 golf 20v turbo.

The spec will be as follows

1.8 20vt motor with H section rods and proper pistons, gt30 turbo(still undecided) external wastgate, mk3 16v box with sequential shifter. Autronic managment

Is still in the stages of being stripped ready for preping and welding before it goes in for a proper weld in cage. I've alreadt aquired a a 0vt motor, mk3 16v box, manifold with garrett flange, 15" bbs plit rims, and my cobra evolution s seat. My next urchase will be the sequental shifter hopefully and possibly some th mono's in track black as my function over fashion wheels.

The aim of the car is to be as ligh as possible at around 800kg fully stripped out and have a motor producing 400bhp. In reality it will probably end up being about 350bhp which will still be plenty.

I'll try get some pics tomorrow and start the thread properly

Bloody nice project

Always wanted a mk1 and will get round to getting one.
Out of interest how are you managing to sort a sequential shifter on a i presume standard mk3 box? What kind of change do they have on them as standard?

Keep up the updates

They work on cable change, so its just a clever mechanism that pulls the cables. Its all done in the sqs shifter unit that replaces the standard one basically instead of a standard arrangement it is like a motobike but where 1st is on a bike reverse is lol.

Small update, i've finally got the car in the garage and skiped the front wings and bonnet so hopefully the progres will start properly now.

I'm hoping to get the the rest of the seam sealer off and start to remove all the underseal from the inner wings and get the doors off so i can get the welding done

Those wheels are WIDE, what arches will you run to warrant running those wheels?

As far as I know, the widest you can get on a mk1 without silly arch work is a 7.5 maybe an 8 if you push your luck.

But good luck to you dude

Oh yeah, PS, What would you want for them if you sold them?
