Hi all

ive just buoght an escort gti.

the car hasnt got electric mirrors or a heated front screen should it have? its a gti it says on the log book and has the interior etc.......

the car was originally from ireland? maybe this is why?

 

I've just had a look in the model check book and it doesn't mention either electric mirrors or a heated front screen.

In my opinion, that's 2 less things to go wrong!

never supplied with em standard,they were an option.RS had them

 

if you buy electric mirrors they will just plug in,

 

i best get a set then.lol

 

ford are well knwn for just bunging whatever was in the parts bin into cars, your gti doesnt have leccy mirrors,yet my 105 spec 1.8 zetec si does.....

 

my gti didnt come with leccy mirrors or a heated front screen. they was options from ford.

easy to put the mirrors in. just unbolt the old ones and bolt the new ones in and connect it all up. no problem.

doesnt matter what colour mirros you get either as the mech inside can be taken out to go in the original mirror housing. so you dont have to worry about get the sprayed to match.

as forthe front heated screen. the llom is all there to be connected up. all you need is the right screen, switch and relay.

 

I had a 1998 (R) 5 door and that didnt have electric mirrors or anything, Dunno if 3 or 5 door versions are differnt

 

i had a 98 3 door on an s plate that did have heated screen but no elec mirrors so i put them in out of an si which had been fitted with them
