Default fan not cutting in

hello guys. i have another prob with my s2

the fan seems to have a mind of its own, sometimes it cuts in fine, but other

time it just wont cut in, for example i was stuck in traffic today and the temp got close to the red, fan wasnt on, but other times it cuts as soon as the needle hits halfway, i have changed the fan switch. what else could it be?
pls help,, gettin a bit fed up of the car now

Amit

thanks for the reply mate, will try cleaning the contacts, the blue connector for the fan does look a bit burnt when you take it off, can these still be bought?

should still be available from your local spares shop
check your fuse is making a clean contact , just like the rear lights , the connectors corode
ive replaced my std fan with a 12"flat jobbie , works fine and looks neater.
also a shit load easier to remove the rad when i need to work on my turbo
also try squashing the connectors at the thermal switch and pushing them on again
