They've welded theirs themselves but have made changes from the specs in the book to fit the V8 in. Have a look on the LocostBuilders forum, I should think someone on there has done what you want to do.

I've actually got "The Book" so sitting next to me so I could follow what they were doing

They've got as far as tacking the chassis together but it's looking pretty good given the guy doing the welding has never welded before.

that site is the bolllox

and they do a BIIIGGGGGER car

i quote

The Viento explodes into a class of it's own - with the largest cockpit and engine bay on the market. This car utterly belies it's generous proportions
to bring you peerless handling with jaw-dropping performance. You could be built like a sumo wrestler or a basketball pro.
The Viento takes on anybody!

Chassis is bought ready made, as it's sooooooo much less grief.

Engine is 2 litre Zetec on Webers for moment.

Total budget is 6k.

If we meet up for a beer this week, I'll talk ypu through all you need to know. Been into the kit car scene longer than the RS one..........

Sierra donor, but you don't need all the parts.

Generally the front rack for example is shortened Mk2 Escort, as the track on the Sierra is far too large.

Chassis was about £400+ the dreaded.

You can make your own, but it's the little touches that you forget about - thinks like handbrake cable runners, gearbox lever stops etc etc.........

I'll explain the SVA and Q plate stuff, as it's a little more complicated, but there are ways round not ending up on a Q plate when you should do........

That novelty soon wore off...

And you aint going to build a kit car with your £3.99 from the garage socket set....... although we did try to change your gearbox with it......
