Whatever you do don't get belt driven ones, get Direct Drive if you can, Numark or something like for a decent enough beginners set up.

All depends on your budget.

Save up and get 1200's or 1210s. If you get the bug you will end up buying them anyway, if you dont you can always sell them and get your money back.

Cheers, just been looking on ebay and 1210's seem to go for anything between £350 to £800.

What should i be looking to pay without paying over the odds??

They are pretty rock solid and easy to repair so it wouldn't matter if they where overly old so get the mkII's

btw I have 1200's as i'm old skool

well they are about 13years old now yet look as mint as the day I got them

Few years ago there was a company called Soundlab who did a direct drive set of decks that were reasonable price. DLP3's i think they were called. Im sure Dave or another DJ can confirm if they are still about or any good

the sound lad had a few belt driven ones and the dlp3 were their direct drive.

i got a set of gemini xl600's about 7 years ago and they are still going strong now.

i got mine with stanton 500's, some slip mats, all leads and a basic mixer for £350 brand new.

have a look on www.htfr.co.uk
they sometimes have decent starter packs on special offers.
