Default the two year saga gets started again!! (saph) update 19/8/07

well i thought i,d put up a couple of pics as this is the last time im gonna
try get this car finished (honest)

bought the car 2 years ago on the isle of wight and drove her home. got up to go for a blast the next morning and the temp needle starts to rise

so i said to myself ill take it off the road for a couple of months and do the head gasket and a general tidy up.... oh dear, how wrong i was. 40 k euro,s later ive got all the bits bought and ready to go on. so ive just got to resto the underside ready for the fresh parts.

this is how the car looked when i put it on the road for 2 days last year and decided it wasnt good enough

and this was yesterday

Hi saphcos, nice motor.

You dont see many of those around Ireland anymore.

What crane hire company do you work for, it looks like one of Kavanaghs
cranes in your aviator + I see the wexford plates on the cossie.

very thourogh( ) job lad, well done. not many people over here put that time and money into cossies or fords. its goona be a prick though having to work on the car outside with the winter weather, id be afraid the car would be blown off the jack with the likes of yesterdays wind!

right then, small update time. took the exhaust off and the old fuel and brake lines.

i then started to strip and prime the underside but
tbh id had enough after an hour but still managed this

then it started to rain so i had a go at tidying my fuel pump cradle
which turn out ok but couldve been better had it been blasted first

.

the standard rubbers and bolts were fooked so i used some new stainless bolts
and some rubber fuel hose instead which worked a treat
.

also the postman was busy this week. some of aeroquips finest

.
proper braided pipe cutter, aeroquip vice jaws and some end capa to
keep the pipes clean inside

some p clips and alu foil for my diy heatsheild

my 4 litre plumbed in system arrived too

and as i was feeling trigger happy i ordered some loctite threadlok, copper grease and 2 ford racing wing covers (dirt cheap). and yet another free hat (fourth they have sent me

as she stands

.

collecting the car from the painter tomorrow and will be concentrating on brake lines and plumbing in the extinguisher etc.

really had enough of this car for the last while so i went to the uk
and bought doug stirlings old saph last weekend and its given me the kick up the arse i needed to finish this. gunship stage 2 rules 280 bhp 355 lbft

going to put some carbon fibre across the hole in the rocker cover
so you wont see any plug leads etc.

building it as a road car the will handle etc. but tbh i promissed if i ever built one of these that i was going to have every fookin gadget possible.
once in a lifetime and all that

ecu being sent back to msd for als and lc next week.

collected the car from painters and the finish is outstanding
