Default Garage security

After finally buyin a house and most importantly buyin a house with a garage 4 the pride and joy that is my saph cosworth
i decided that this winter i would take the car off the road 4 the winter 4 a spot of tlc
The area i live in is quiet and has a low crime rate so i hadn't even thought bout any extra security 4 the garage, that was un till last night when i got back from a night out on the town 2 find my gate thats attatched 2 the side wall of my garage had been ripped off the wall (includin the frame) and the back door of the garage looks like some 1 has had a go at it with a crow bar

This time i was lucky, and they must have been scared off (why do people think they have a right 2 somethin they havent worked or paid 4)

so im after any suggestin's,photos, ideas and products of how 2 make my garage super secure, and things that i can do 2 keep my cosworth
thanx jay

What is the point of a house alarm tho?

Most don't make any noise (they used to, but then councils got too many complaints about em going off that they were classed as a noise nusiance and alarms now have to be virtually silent, and as such, no one pays any attention to them anyway) and the ones linked to the police are crap aswell - by the time the plod get off their asses and get to your gaff, the tealeaves are long gone. And since the plod have no hope in hell of ID'ing em, and stand to make no money from fining anyone, they won't investigage anyway...

Far better off getting a shit loads of locks, metal framed doors/gates, and hooking the handles up to mains voltage - then the little cunts won't get in

get a garage alarm, think you can get ones that are battery powered motion detectors or you could get a remote laser so if anyone walks past, trips it and an alarm goes off in the house?

saw one of these on a neighbours driveway but never hear it when you trip it so assume it's inside?

Sounds like they know what you got and can assume their gonna be back, must of been badly wanting it to ripp ure gate off the wall

rig up a silent alarm to your house that rings your mobile then you can catch the little cunts and kick shit out of them.make sure you have a 12v back up supply in case they cut the power like they did to me

All the house alarms round here are very loud, dont bother me tho. So i see a lot of point in a house alarm.

Get neighbours like me then that look out for each other!. I'm in a small close and we all look out for each other, when my alarm went off two neighbours were straight round back to find the wife had left the window open

Is it an up and over door? If so these are the easiest way in. You sound like you have a rear door too, so put some extra internal locks on the up and over door that you can only get access to from the inside through the rear door. Then make the rear door secure by adding high security locks. That about it if they wanna get in they will, the harder you make it the more chance you have catching them...

Invest in a set of maglocks (probably spelt wrong). They fit onto the doors and look like alarm sensors you find on windows and the like. The only difference is that they "lock" together with a magnetic force capable of withstanding 1000lb of force before they give. They work off a normal house alarm and whenever the alarm is set, they are set.

A neighbour has them on his garage, and there is no way you are opening those doors if they are active. You'd pull the garage away and leave the maglocks there

i manually imobilise mine and with full left lock so its against the wall ,you have to do layers of security so it becomes like the krypton factor its a pain but what else can you do.

given time they will still get it

hey how you doing J? Shame about the cossie, twats!, best to make it take as long as possible and be awkward for the bastards. I see you found my thread too, lots of ideas on there, Im going with:
Pug 106 on the driveway in front of the door, a drop down shoot bolt over the top of the up and over door and a chain round a post in the ground on the inside eventually, back door will be frosted glass (to let some light in still) meshed inside also, door panel strenghthened, door frame is sealed both sides already and screwed securely to the wall.
To complement the 3lever lock fitted so far, 2x disc locks on brenton bolts will be visible on the outside but its round the back so fairly secluded. And a pair of security lights front and rear to aid the next door neighbours CCTV And me to top it off

The cossie will have the engine removed too- but thats more to do with Ford reliability than security
If you want your window bricking up give me a nod, I cant do it for free but sort the bricks and we can sort something out

Simple solution to your problem, buy a dog! I've got a westie and no-one has ever tried my garage or house cos the thing barks at its own shadow Seriously though, no burglar in his right mind would bother if there was any kind of dog there. They don't know mine is a foot high wimp when its barking like fook behind the door

I do security for a living On my garage i have a full intruder alarm which covers single door, main door, 2x 12volt smoke detectors (just incase the car goes up)! and a wall mounted detector for picking up movement and vibration sensors on the windows. Plus the main garage dr has 2 x inside bolts going into the floor

Get a couple of posts that can be retracted into the ground in front of the main door this should stop them opening the door and if they do manage to get the door up it should stop them taking the car away. I'm thinking about getting one for mine, I've also got a removable steering wheel which I have just realised I've left in the car
