Default L8 baby boards

When I bought my car (K plate 4x4) I was told in the past it had been mapped by Bayoo. I am now changing the spec on it and was wondering if when I take the top off the ecu there is anyway to tell which babyboard it has in it?
If it has a pectel board does that limit the chip I can have fitted? I was looking to get one from msd but will only work with the standard board?
Cheers.

Standard baby board looks like this. iirc the Pectel boards have 'Pectel' printed on them.

To fit a MSD Closed Loop chip you need a standard board.

from the other post that you asked the same question on

to hold the chip that contains the run program and the maps.

the std one in a l8 basically increases the memory level from a l6 and is unencrypted.

other baby boards may have an extra chip on them to decypher the encrypted chip (e.g. pectel). that means that if you copy the chip, you also need the babyboard to make it work, you can't just plug it into a std babyboard

if it's std, it'll look like the one pictured above. if it's not, the babyboard will be different, but can easily be swapped back (with corresponding chip)

B9KOS there are pectel compatible alternatives that don't neceesarily say pectel on them
