Default my cars not right

Hi all, Just got my self a 1990 S2RST, unfortunatly after doing a few miles in it it just doesnt feel right.

The fault is it "sometimes" feel like its hesatateing if i acelerate hard, it doesnt do it all the time and when it does do it, it isn't allways at the same engine speed.

I'm not 100% sure of the spec of the car or what mods its had yet, i know its got a larger intercooler, the turbo looks bigger than the turbo fitted to my last RST, its got a full exhaust system and its supposed to be "chipped" and have a cam fitted but I'm obviously not 100% sure about that. oh, and its only running around 10 - 12 psi of boost (or acording to the guage anyway)

the car does not use any oil or water, has no problems with idleing or starting.

anyone have any ideas at what i should be looking at first?

It sounds like it's either needing a good setup, or theirs a boost hose colapsing (usually always the one from Metering unit - turbo) give it a feel and see if it's past it.

Thanks for that, actualy, now you have said that I had a similar problem with an uno turbo at the start of the year.

I will have a look at that, anyone else got anything else for me to look at while i under the bonnet?

Does it sound like there is air escaping (whoosing noise from the front and exhaust note sounds different)?

What you're describing sounds like the problems I'm having wiith mine, I've changed the dizzy, cap, arm etc. Had the timing checked, even put steel rings in the boost hose to ensure that it wasn't those collapsing.... and all to avail.

The plan of action this weekend is to take the turbo off (it's blowing slightly between the manifold / turbo flange anyway) and ensure the wastegate isn't sticking, which I think is where my issues lie.

mines all to fuck, it just stops pullin at 3500ish rpm n is pretty hesitant most the time, think it might be sumthin to do with the wastegate.

You do need to take it to a reputable rolling road and get it set up correctly. A rolling road operator worth his salt should be able to pin point what the problem is if there is one.

Work out cheaper than throwing good money after bad trying in vain to sort it yourself.
