Default ERST running GRS Owners - How hot is you Water Temp.

As ya know been having major issues with my motor recently.
Well had head skimmed and new Head gasket.
All run up earlier this morning and I have got the fan running all the while. still seems to be rising right up. Not to the red but still high.
So the question is how hot does yours run????????

Have you changed the thermostat, and more importantly fitted a new rad.

Karl, when you say changed the stat do you mean just a new stat or a different temp one?
Rad is recored a few months before the waterpump hose popping.
Had new water pump too.

I have a 82ºc thermostat fitted but if your running a single kenlowe fan then it cant produce enough airflow to keep the water temps down.

IMO the best setup you could have is twin fans on the radiator and push the intercooler forward.

Its not a GRS problem imo its the CFM output from the Fan

Things like a new stat and header tank cap go a long way to helping cooling. I never see water temps higher than 92c at a standstill, but then I have done almost everything possible to keep the car cool;

Alloy Rad
Twin Fans (independently controlled)
82c Stat
New Header Tank Cap

So I would be pretty annoyed if my temps went high.

I know the engine is now sound, No pressure at the cap what so ever.
May have to have to rethink the GRS idea. If I move it forward it the wont allow bonnet catch to operate. Rad was moved forward also so sits only about an inch from a turbo that is fooking hot. Ask my hand it knows.
GRS was fitted when I bought the car at the time with out an engine, now just getting them to play the game. Car is fine running just sitting still she seems to rise.
Yes the setup is with a single Kenlowe.

Not sure if you guys have took some thing I said wrongly or Im just mis understanding. GRS is doing her job well and do understand sticking this huge gleaming lump of ally infront of a rad which was once faced with nice cool air will affect things.
Just getting some ideas to keep the temp down as I really dont want to be doing the head gaskety again.

Lee a single 10" Kenlowe fan doesnt produce enough air to cool the water in the radiator. Thats your problem of rising water temps!

You need to have 2 10" kenlowe fans as this doubles the amount of air flow and is then more than enough to keep the water temps right down.

You could fit 2 fans on the front of the intercooler but that would reduce the efficency of it, so the best solution is to fit 2 fans to the rad, move the intercooler forward and moficy the bonnet catch IF that hasnt enough clearance of the intercooler

You never drove it on more than 8psi, so the water never got hot

Is there any other alternatives to Kenlowe cooling fans for a GRS Setup?

Think I worded that wrong. Is pressure but not bubbling/boiling up through the expansion tank like she was.

Kinda agree with Dave, 90% of the time, only one of my fans will come on and the temp will drop. BUT I haven't given the car any shit yet, only gone up to 0.5 bar, add another 1.5 and it might be a different story

And Lee - Yes... Plenty of other companies make fans lol

You should find if the car is running properly that when you have been out for a drive you come back and park up, it should not take long atall to rise, mine does, it gets to about in between half and 3/4 and the fan kicks in it brings it back down to around the 1/4 mark and goes off I am not running a GRS at current so cannot comment (although I did before and it was a pain) But I have already invested in a brand new header tank, thermo, I am going to get the EVO4 grs as it is slightly smaller so u dont get bonnet catch probs and at the same time will get a alloy rad I would suggest above Lee, another fan or a diff fan! and have them on the rad

P.S Tony is right the water sys should have pressure there!
