Default T5 Gearbox issue's, Please Help/Advise

Basically a Saph i;m looking at over the weekend is meant to have a noisy thrust bearing and kind of needs double clutching to get it from 3rd gear up into 4th, but it's ok on the downshift from 4th to 3rd.

Are these serious issues and how much and what is involved to fix them?

Dan 3rd gear is the weekness on the T5, for the sake of Ł450 ish take it to Bernie and get a standard rebuild, get him to knock it off the price looking about Ł250 for a 2nd hand jobbie

It's pretty cheap as it is mate so doubt he will go any lower!

Plus as it's gonna be an everyday car can't really afford to go fucking about replacing gearboxes!

As said 3rd gear is weakness but its only syncro!! No need for full rebuild usually. The Syncro is pennis, its just the labour. Bernie charged me Ł250 to fix mine many moons ago. That was collect and delivered to my door aswell

If it's an easy job then my Dad can do it at his workshop Rhys, just don't want to spend money on buying the car and then shell out a fortune keeping it going, thats not me!

as rhys said

and then to avoid gearbox issues in future DONT CHANGE GEAR LIKE YOUR TRYING TO STEAL SHITE FROMM A SHOP WINDOW

the box changes gears,,, you just need to point em where to go,,,, not wrench em in the fucking location

BUT syncros are usually down shift problems and not up the box,,,, well mine was

What about 5th gear removal?

Gotta take it off to strip a T5,not the easiest job without breaking it!

Correct I think Puddy, I know someone who has made up a tool to get it off without breaking the gear, don't know if he's still got it though!
