The Scoob would win hands down. The chassis is simply far far better out the box.

But then it also comes down to the driver as well, a crap driver in the Scooby and a good driver in the Cos would be a different story,

The RS Turbo would leave it for dead though.

Don't be a smart arse Rod, we all know if you can't do 200mph you're not worthy of having an opinion

I guess it would also depend on which subaru. Some of the STiV Type RA's have boxes designed for track work, which means nice short shifts etc.

This could make it seem like it had more power as well as better handling.

Think about it this way, an escort is designed in 91` and are based on an sierra, an evo or subaru are from mid 90`s, so if the evo and subaru`s aren`t quicker then there is something wrong

with track daying its pretty impossible to tell who will be quicker, driver makes a BIG difference

for instance michael schumacher would be quicker round a track in a standard focus 2.0 than wot a mere mortal would be in a 300bhp cossie so thats over double the power + 4wd and schu would still be quicker

first impreza came out in late 92 i think might be 93 so not a big gap but like u said escos does have the sierra base, think if Ford had put a bit more thought into it they could have made a better base instead of using the sierra 1.

i have seen a vid where a fookin exige stays with a veyron around a track TBH the driver made all the difference there

if you took the good driver and cloned him, placed each one of him in each of the cars I have mentioned and we all know what would be quicker

Thats debateable. The gap between the cossie and the evo was increasing on the straights. Nothing in it on the corners though. Mind, if the cossie had lost anymore oil it would have seized

This makes a pleasant change for the topice to be "nice and easy"

Lets keep it that way Pls guys.

Now, as to whats quicker with what mods, there was a black sti at Castle Coombe last year on the track at the same time as Porkie,if i remenber correctly the sti had about 360BHP and im not sure about porkies Lotus exige(sp) but it made good viewing,i do think ,even though i am completely non biased on this one,the sti had the advantage.

I have pics somewhere, if i have them i will post a few up.

About the RS500's which were track preped... I'd like to see pretty much anything keep up with one of them on track proper cars.

Also, just because you own an expensive old ford, and lets me honest you have to have some serious wonga to buy a 15 year old for Ł15k and then decided to stick an 8k engine in it. It doesn't really mean you have the ability to drive well. How many people track their cossie's also? only a few. Most put 'bling' on them and maintain they are 600hp. Realistically a 360 hp Sti vs a 360hp Escos with standard suspension etc. The STi will rape its little panties... I dare say you stick any car with the right driver and it will outperform a 'performance' car with some toff driving it.

Perfect example is the video of the cossie and the evo, sorry but that evo if driven by some cunt would have floored the cossie everywhere. Its all about driving ability.
