Time to build a flow bench!

Pretty simple really if you have a spare fuel rail/reg and some measuring cylinders.

Could use a simple circuit with a maplins timer.

Not a bad idea that, but as ive already bought them, im going to put them in the car and see if the ECU can manage to learn them or not.

They are rumoured to be rated at 475cc, and ive seen the ecu learn upto 440cc, so should be ok hopefully.

Will have wideband on it all the time initially while its trying to learn them, so will see how it gets on i guess!

I know they are at least big enough for what i want (just over 300bhp), Im just worried they might be too big!

Chip..why worry about being too big?...I have 1000cc's in and get 3.5% co tickover on L8 or is your ECU more basic?

Sorry Phil, i didnt really give a lot of detail there mate.

Basically this is for my girlfriends car, which is a calibra turbo.

The ecu in it is actually far from more basic than an L8, its actually really quite clever, its "adaptive"

It looks at the corrections it is making during closed loop fuelling and uses them to alter its own internal injector scaling tables, so that if you fit bigger injectors, it "learns" them.

But there is a limit to how far it can adjust like this, and if you put an injector in that is too big, it wont be able to get the fuelling lean enough.

Obvioulsy a live map or new chip would sort this, but there are VERY few people who have the equipment to do that on this ECU (motronic 2.7, might even be the same as in your 348 as i know they are used in some ferraris of that era) so i was hoping to get away with an "off the shelf" chip if possible just becaues of the hassle/expense of her having to take it up to Stu.

Very probably its the same system then

Still needs chipping for changes to the timing, its only the fuel it copes with (to a point) via the self learning

She has a chip anyway, but its intended for the standard injectors with the pressure wound up, which equates to about 400cc ish

Is yours on AFM or MAP?

Gotta be the ulimate for "get you home" reliability then, even if one half of the engine dies on its arse you can still drive home on the other half

355 on tickover sounds like someone shaking a can of nails

Doug had his idling at weston for a while before he went out, to warm it up, and everyone thought it was fucked. LOL

At least it proved it wasnt an Mr2, they purr like a kitten on tickover.

That will be the flat plane crank. Fires like two four cylinder engines rather than a conventional V8.

Phil, the 355's have TWO ecu's (both fitted to the inner bulkhead panel behind the seats)...and these ECU cases look exactly the same as L8 / P8....they have the same cast chassis with pressed alliminium lids/pozi screws.....just different Webber stickers.

Sounds like they took a step backward then Doug if they went from an ECU with self learning etc to a shonky old L8!

Mine was a 1998 car.......and they only made them until 1999.

Chip, I'm not saying that an L8 / P8 was fitted to the 355's, only that the case/chassis & mult-pin connector was the same.

Also, I'm sure they were closed loop, I did notice 4 x Lamda sensors (2 per bank).

Oh, and PINK Bosch injectors were fitted
