Im sure one of the two/both have to be machined and modified as the holes for the gudgeon pin arent the same sizes.

yes you have to brass bush the zetec conrods,so you have fully floting little ends

zetec rods aren't that thick to fit brass bush i guess

Here's an e-mail from one of the best tunners I know

"The pistons have to be machined to clear the wider small end of the Zetec
conrods, and the bore of the Zetec conrod has to be honed out slightly to
allow the XE pistons to be press fitted onto the XE piston pin."

Old zetec has a pin diameter of 20.63mm.
post -98 zetec has a pin diameter of 20.00mm
How about the XE?
