Just how easy is it to change a timing belt and tensioner on a cossie 4x4, I have been told the bottom auxilliary pulley can be a nightmare to get off and also is it a straight forward job to replace the hydraulic tappets.
Timing b elt relatively easy. Just make sure you line everything up before you remove the old belt and make sure you don't move anything until the new one goes on. To tension the belt should be able to twist through 90 degrees at it's longest point. If it whines it;s too tight! Tensioner is easy to change.
Bottom pulley can be easily removed if you can manage to fit a 'pulley puller' in there. |Space is pretty tight however.
Tappets are easy to replace. Cams need to come out. Just note the positioning of the cam caps on removal. They should be numbered. Also, do not overtighten these caps on reassembly making sure all oil is out of the threaded holes. I replaced my tappets to find out that these had been overtightened before and that longer bolts had been used to catch the remaining couple of mm of thread. Not good. This then has to be helicoiled, which is time consuming, costs money and a pain in the arse.
Good luck!

sweet thanks for help how long do u think it will take to do and do you know the torque setting for the cam caps so that i carnt over tigthen them
you might be better taking the rad and intercooler off to get a puller on to it. an if i can remember i think it was only about 25 if not a bit less.
an when you get started it will come together in no time a few hours if you are not bad with the tools.
good luck
