hi mate history history history.
Make sure it has all of the correct documentation mots etc etc.
check chassis no vin plate the std stuff
Now if the car is a good one it should have date stamp on the front wings about 7-8" down from the windscreen, should also have a date on the front slam panel and the rear tailgate.
these alone should be able to tell you if it has been bumped etc.
I would of course do a hpi check as well.
engine/ check for oil leaks down the side of the block h/gasket fail etc. Also make sure you start the car from stone cold as they can suffer from piston slap from cold so make sure you check this out and also if it kicks anything out of the back upon start up.
and all the general stuff rust issue etc, they also suffer from warped discs and worn bushes if these have not been replaced.
Good luck
Paul

Default COSWORTH

HI MATE ,
GO WITH WHAT PAUL SAYS BUT ALL 2WD COSWORTHS SUFFER FROM PISTON SLAP THAT WAS OVERCOME ON THE 4WD AS THEY OFFSET THE GUDGEON PIN ON THE PISTON TO ELIMINATE THAT.IT WILL GO AWAY AFTER A MIN OR TWO AS THE ALUMINIUM PISTON EXPANDS IN THE CAST BLOCK.

Hi - just a quickie but got mine apart and recommend that you check around the battery tray - the water runs right under it from the screen. Also look up behind where bumper fixes as iots a rot catch area. Finally take a good look at the inner wongs for damage. Especially important if the date stamped wings are not on it.

Oh, and the fuel tanks rust like fury on some

As above front inner wings are very prone to going due to a tiny arch linner,o the metal takes the worst of the water
