Default Closed Loop and Coil Pack Conversion

I have an '89 2wd Saph and I am really interested in getting a closed loop system and a coil pack conversion fitted. My question is are both systems compatible with the ECU I have or do I need to change to a different one. I have seen several posts and several different ECU numbers flying around and it confused me as I haven't got the foggiest as to what ECU I have or what I need.

I've already had a boss welded on to the exhaust pipe and I have a lamda sensor fitted to run my AFR gauge (even though this seems to respond to the stereo more than the sensor)

coilpack can be done on your ecu by MSD
for closed loop fuelling i suggest you will be required to upgrade to at least a level 8 ecu

L8 you need for this conversion(closed loop) post a pic of yours up and we can tell you if yours has no mounting lugs and has a red or green sticker its poss a L8 (4x4 ecu)

your lambda has a bad earth if responding to your tunes, most lambdas will work post a pic up and we should b able to say...

you will need

L8 ecu + std babyboad
PF09 TPS sensor
Lambda sensor
MSD closed loop chip

Two ign amps
Loom
Coilpack (1.6 sierra cvh or similar)
Ign leads
ECU converted by MSD to run coilpacks

Hope this helps

Really helpfull cheers I was guessing the Lamda would have a bad earth just got to find some time to sort it out. Definatly have a standard 2wd ECU. Would the L8 one plug straight into the current loom or will I need to change it for another?

L8 will plug into loom you will need to put a wire to pin no2 for lambda signal and power from fuel pump relay to power lambda

then theres two wires for coilpack

its easy just follow instrutions with the kit..

To convert your saff to L8, all you need is a PF09 TPS, and change the outer 2 TPS wires. Obviously, you'll also need a suitable chip (different to L6 chip) in a L8 ECU on either the standard baby board, or a Pectel/Collins/whatever board. The rest of the kit listed above is for the coilpack conversion
