Gearlinkage for early mk3.......

I am buliding a mk3, and converted it to 5-speed, but need the early type gearlinkage off X-Y reg, xr3i or rs1600i, one with the cradle, not the 4 bolts that go through the tunnel.

could you not be able to drill the 4 holes in the tunnel for linkage
