Why is everyone selling there fords for BMW, AUDI etc.
Seems everybody I am speaking to recently are selling, or have sold their pride and joy cosworths and RST's for BMW. AUDI, VW, even the odd Volvo R and Skoda Vrs in the equation.
My cosworth went and a very happy owner of my MK4 golf tdi with nearly 200 bhp and pure reliability, no more draining taps, clunks, oil leaks, snapped diffs and boxes (Butch..lol)....LOL
Seems like everybody I am speaking to are going to Germany next year in anything other than a ford too.......
Whats happening to the love and the industry hey??????

People are growing up.
The same people who were on here buying Fords, modifying them etc are now the ones selling them on and moving up.
Inevitable really, due to changes in circumstances.
Also with the growing up comes the financial responsibility - who wants to spend 3k on gearboxes, and 2k on brakes for something that is only very marginally better than a lot of the efforts that manufacturers put out as standard.
Bottom line is, for the same money these days, you can buy a car that does everything a stage 3 cossie does for example, but better, with more class, less hassle, less image problem, more rewarding etc - BMW M3.

Or is it because Ford have only produced 2 new models in the higher performance catergory in the last 11 years? (Focus RS and Focus ST) Hardly alot to choose from in the Ford line up for people wanting to upgrade their RS Turbo's or Cosworths is there.

Looks as though you've answered your own questions Dan!
You've moved yourself to another marque... so others have done so for the same reasons you have.

A Part of growing up im affriad. At certain stages in life most people cant afford a good performance car and a nice daily runner. SO most people opt for a nice daily runner that has a bit of performance and wont break down as they havent got time to fix or the money with buying a new house.
It wont be till we get bored and have more disposable income will we come back

Rich ok ok not the only Ford as there are a couple of ST Focus's also
Dave I very nearly did funnily enough
was almost swayed after all this time
to buy a very low mile black escort cos but decided against it
But what to get I mean M3's are just a piazza delivery boys car now so can what would you recommend

Quite simply. Ford aren't producing the goods any more.
The only 2 Fords of notworthy performace over the last 10 years is the Focus RS, and the new Focus ST. Both FWD. Both too expensive for what they are.
I mean, 18k for a Turbo'd FWD focus? Naaah
When you look at the prices of Skylines, Scoobs, EVOs and BMWs, there is so much more for your money. Old Fords are just a pain in the arse.
You spend all your time/money on them, and they still break every few weeks. I'll be looking at R32 GTRs and 2 door Scoobs next leave. I've had enough of Fords. Had enough of breaking down.

Eh? You can't understand why people want a car they cra drive places, without breaking down all the time, that doesn't cost them money to put right every 2 minutes?

i have to agree with rab here, ford just aint up to scratch in this country with the only fords with power being front drive(pish)
i know the country is going green with our 5 different coloured bins and the like but why cant we get the big power rwd cars that the ausie's get?

or the u.s get

and its criminal that there aint a 4x4 focus rs yet
i even thought about an evo
