Default What cams

My escort cosworth is running a pair of BD10 cams,7.2:1and greys. Im switching from a t35 to a t38 and was thinking of a cam change before I get it re-mapped.
I've heard people say you can get away with a bd14 without valve pockets but how close is it, as i dont realy want to rip the motor to bits to get pockets machined.
Looking for advice on what to switch to,or if it will be driveable enough with the bd10's and t38?
Will be speaking to Stu about this later this week but just looking for opinions justnow.

I would not use a BD14 without getting valve cutouts, also a T38 works better with a ported head. You may get turbo surge otherwise.

I have talked to a few people who advised me not to go for the TT version without a ported head due to the surge issues, but the Universal Turbos version is ok.
Was thinking a bd14 will be real close to the valves, so the only real change would be back to standard. How would this afect power and driveability?

The UT T38 will be fine but the head is only a 400bhp unit as std so it would be pointless upgrading....BD10's are fine IMO!

Apparently, most tuners use "secret cams".

No one seems to stock them for general sale for some reason

Always wonderd how special these secret cams were or if its just off the shelf cams timed differently and couple of hundred added to the bill.

if you want to fit BD14 you must get the pistons pocketed & the head flowed to make the most of them , i run a TT T38, flowed head and 14s and have an apexi boost controller, i don't have any problems with surging and drives nice, runs 2 bar and comp of 8.2:1
don't know much about secret cams other than they are custom grinds, only recommended for big power or a specific engine build, sick to try ed and tested cams unless the engine is being built from scratch by some one who knows what they are doing......

So if i was to keep the bd10's would i be best to get some light head work done before the remap, what sort of gains would be expected from a lightley flowed head at my spec. Im looking for around 400 bhp.

It will be going to Stu for a live map as soon as i can get it booked in (stu you have e mail and pm ).
Think i will keep the cams in but what sort of extra gains would i expect from head work and what sort of price am i looking at to get it done?
If its going to make a decent gain would be aswell to get it done now before the remap, than 6 month down the line then need remapped again.
