Default Cosworth, more like bloody Christine!

I've got a 3 Door Cos which has just had a full rebuild (actually more like 2 but thats another story) plus a new turbo, clutch, radiator, heater matrix, running a stage 1 chip. Leads and plugs are only about 200 miles old.
I was out in her the other day, engine had just gone over 3k when it started missing. So I put it into neutral, foot of the acelerator which is when the engine started doing its own thing, revving between about 3 and 5k rpm and anything in between. It did this for about 30 secs before settling down again. Drove on and a few miles later it did it again. Restarting the engine clears it. Only seems to happen when the engine goes over 3k rpm and its intermittent, can be fine for ages then it kicks in. Anybody got any ideas, I'm guessing TPS, but thats just a guess.

Cheers

Dave.

No expert at all on ECU stuff but also look at idle control valve? Would this cause your problem? They can stick in the little piston inside them, clean out with petrol and try again.

Worth a try cos it costs nowt and easy to get at!

don't guess. buy the IAW Monitor software from Motorsport Developments and you can find out for sure. also look after your engine for the future by making sure all sensors and actuators are working as they should

I also use a SECS monitor and have a SATCK dash. These monitor whats going all in a live situation.

BigDave they kind of do, but they show what the ecu SHOULD be seeing, not what it actually is seeing, and not really what it is ouputting whereas the IAW monitor does

I thought the SECS monitor did exactly that, it monitors the ECU and shows you what is going on in there?

Also my sasage fingers should have said STACK dash in the last post...DOH!

Cheers for that guys, I cleaned out the ISCV which was pretty clean anyway and gave the connector on the TPS a good clean out as well, (the rubber boot had come off it so I think some moisture may have got in there. Took it out for a good couple of hours yesterday, no worries at all.
