S1 85 spec is Blue red Blue.
S2 86 spec is Blue red white.
S2 88 spec is Blue red black.
S2 90 spec is Hearts hash diamonds.

Nothing more than a way to distinguish between different type of ECU's. They were also used on Sierras as electronic ignition modules with carb control but they were different colours again.

All standard ECUs have a boost limit, think its somewhere around 10psi

if your head on the turbo is getting quite rattly the ecu thinks its the car knocking so it cuts the boost back!

Maxxeh: why do you need an unlimited boost chip? its better to have something mapped to your car's spec!

a knock sensor retards the ignition to prevent detonation

In the event of knock happening...........but cam rattle cam also cause ignition retard.

You've got 2 options.

You can either use a Series 1 ECU which doesn't have the input for the knock sensor, or you could plug in a knock sensor and tuck it up out of the way.

Its important to have the sensor plugged in if you are using a ECU that has an input for a knock sensor otherwise it will still also retard the timing.
