ok so ive got an L reg 2 door 1.1LX, good nick solid all round surface rust.........fooked engine (piston rings) easy option just throw in a half decent 1100
after much trawling through ebay ive still not found any locally.......well well
someone at college has an M reg 5 door needs a lot of welding so its getting scrapped i asked for a few bits she said i could have it for £50 (what the scrappys offer) well now there not giving her owt for it so im getting it on the very cheap, plan is strip it of the good bits (inc engine) and get my mate to scrap the shell (i get £20) this way everyones a winner
one major draw back i still havent sucseeded in removing the engine from a mk1 so where on earth do i start on a mk3......i have an angle grinder and still saw if all else fails

got a socket set and i use a tractor as my crane
whats the preffered method un bolt everything and hoist the engine out or unbolt everything and lift the shell off
also is it easyer to leave the original gearbox in place or should i keep the box and engine together
i know this is very random and totally pointless with the rocker cover off a mk1 fit straight onto the mk3 head, i suppose i could just measure the bolt pattern
