Default Did Steve Irwin provoke?

..the way i have now read the whole Ray situation was that he was swimming close to it with a cameraman up ahead filming...the Ray stopped in fear no doubt and stabbed him....so i ask was is REALLY a freak accident...i thought that was say walking down the road and getting struck by lightning...as opposed to holding a carbon rod in a thunderstorm!

Tragic death and i am gutted but now its sinking in i cant help thinking it was his OWN fault.

The problem now is people are gonna be scared of animals/reptiles etc because experts keep saying a ray aint excactly dangerous...not good, the mutilation of rays is just the start i fear

Just his life though wasn't it, it's what he did!

Although it's happened now Phil, it could have happened years ago from a spider, snake anything!

Just his time was up! Life's so cruel to take the good one's early!

He DID provoke certain animals/creatures, to show the public what they did in "attack" mode.

He used to provoke everything IMO. It's ironic that he got fucked by a fish really.

To be honest, I never liked him, well annoying. I saw him the other day on TV capture some amimal that was trapped, he then took it somewhere else to set it free. Put it on a tree trunk and explained how it was going to climb up the tree, when he let go, it jumped on the floor and done a runner. Irwin then decides to chase it around rather then let it just go.

We're king of making machines and weapons to make us king of stuff, if we wanted to wipe out every whale and shark and fish in the ocean we could, but not with out bare hands

With regards to steve irwin, YES without any doubt he provoked the fish into attacking, the proof is there plainly, because it attacked him, but its very possible he didnt mean to do so.

He obvioulsy just didnt know as much about them as he does about croc's i guess?

...no Chip it aint plain to see as i beleive the ray was spooked into attack mode due to heading towards a cameraman...thats the story from the witnesses anyway...maybe a lie to cover the truth....but there is no proof of what you say..

Where steve positioned his cameraman still falls under the broad banner of putting the Ray in a situation where it was provoked into thinking it was in danger from him when he didnt intend that to happen.

i thought steve was great ,sad day when i heard . i dont think he provoked it he just got to close , most animals dont kill for the fun of it the ray felt threatened and protected itself like we all would . bad judgement and his luck ran out .
these w..kers killing rays in revenge attacks .............only dumb ass humans kill things for the fun of it bit like those dickheads who stand half a mile away with a high powered rifle with telescopic sights and shoot polar bears and then think there the big hard man .............pricks

he provokes every animal he comes across by picking them up all the time and teasing them thinking there in danger, he was a top bloke though

He was pretty sellfish IMO he had a couple of babys didnt he? He was a selfish twat to his new babies and wife, yer he still should of done the programs but not taken extreme chances like he did when he got stung,

you should always put your kids first no matter what

Crap comment we are as vunerable to wildlife in the land as we are in the sea!

We just spend alot more time on land and so have pushed all the dangerous animals back by destroying habitat or killing them outright!

Go hang about unarmed where there are lots of Lions around and see how long you last!

Stress?

Phil you have me in tears of laughter mate, you are the least stressfull thing on here, your posts are the equivalent of "the sun newspaper", nothing of any real value but easy to read, pass the time, and normally amusing.

..Pork...i notice you fail to answer a genuine question ..Well done

...and we are King of the Land yes as we are capable of using other means to attack..that would make us pretty indestructable to animals pal if we wanted to be...a lion is the king of the animal world yes....so hardly bollocks

Taz not a funny thread at all...but like all mine it always gets a hater to turn it sour...and on this occasion below the belt...but then a geezer who decides to phone one up at 1am stone cold sober and try doin a counciling session..i aint surprised

Back to topic...ish

He probably didn't provoke it..but if it was scared/spooked...maybe because there was some weird australian man swimming over it..and it reacted..then it has the same effect really.

He knew how to avoid spooking dangerous animals, crocs etc..who are obviously dangerous..I suppose with one that doesn't kill that you assume..possibly slightly in ignorance..that it isn't a threat.

He was probably always going to die by some form of animal..just because of the risks he took..in a way it was lucky it was a ray so was a pretty quick death..wouldn't have been nice had he been eaten by a croc, for example.
