hello all, iv just found that when i disconect the maf sencer from my evo it ticks alot smoother ? i take it that its unsafe not to run with the maf out ?
im just fiting a new idle control valve as these or always going on the early evo, s .. so until i fit the ICV i wont now what it will tick like, iv taken off the after market dump and got the recircled one back in place just how mitsu ment it to be

No, you don't want to be driving without the MAF plugged in.

With the MAF sensor electrical connector disconnected the ECU will apply a defualt value for MAF which will run the fuelling rich to save any further damage so you may even get slightly better perofrmance but worse fuel consumption!!

Either you have a MAF related problem, often dirt on the hot wire. Or, it is out of calibration because you have fitted an inductionn kit or the such like.

sorted new idle control valve in and ticks ok now , common problem on all evo,s
