Default Subaru impreza (update 23/10/06)

Bought this scooby the other week from sheffield sports salvage with light damage. Its a 97 uk car turbo 2000.

Had a few jobs to do before i could start the car as 2 of the 4 cam pulleys were broken. First had to order 2 new pulleys and a new cambelt. I fitted these and it started up right away (well as soon as i sussed out how to turn the immobilliser off) Now running i started to replace all the front panels.

had a list of parts to replace;

Bonnet. Done
wings x2. Done
wheel x1. Done
slam panel. Done
headlight panel x2. Done
bottom cross member. Done
center support bar. Done
n/s headlight
n/s sidelight
n/s indicator
front bumper
rear bumper
exhaust center section. Done
exhaust back box. Done
lamda sensor. Done
air filter
cam pulleys x2. Done
cam belt Done
bumper support bar

also had to weld an extra 2inch to the gear stick cos sum twat decided to cut it so short it was almost impossible to chage gear. Also had to remove about 20 metres of wiring from a neon kit that was fitted and tidy up the inside abit.

Got stuck in as soon as it was delivered this was after about an hour

then after bout 2 hours all the front panel removed.

Got on the phone and placed an order for the panels and started as soon as they arrived

All front panels now fitted and seam sealed and painted.

Bonnet and wings just bolted on to ensure right fit and there very good. Will be painting the rest next week i hope still need to get a new front bumper but all other parts are here waiting to fit.

Ive now got a replacement wheel for the missing 1 but had to settle for a black 1 but its now painted will put sum more pics up later this week.

Finally sorced a front bumper from ebay so waiting for that to arrive now and going to pick up the replacement rear one on friday i think.

Still need to get a headlight sidelight and a pair of indicators but i can them any time quite cheap.

going to be painting some of the panels this week after ive sorted out my shit heap of a garage (cant even see the floor for car parts so a trip to dump is in order i think)

Ok last 2 days ive got most of the parts painted and a few fitted heres some pics.

Just when i started to spray the first panel the gun decided it had had enough so had to buy a new 1 so bought this twin pack from Kestral Top feeder and suction.

Nice guns easy to use.

I also decide to respray the bootlid and spoiler cos the last ownder had left loads of sealent on it and plenty of scratches.

Fitted a few of the panels back on but need new hinges and bumper bars b4 the bonnet and bumpers can go back on.

Boot and spoiler back on

And the wings

Spent bout 3-4 hour yesterday compounding the rest of the body with G3 and giving it a good polish to make sure the new paint doent look out of place. Doesnt look bad but the new panels still need flatting and buffing yet.

Cheers. had a few prob's when putting new front panels on because they were patern parts and not subaru 1's i had to do odd ajustments to make sure they fitted good but apart from that everything has gone great all in its cost about Ł2400-2500 including the car. Uk turbo 2000's go for about Ł4000ish on a P plate seen a few a bit cheaper but if i sell this i'll still make a little profit, and might actually be selling very soon as my boss is interested in going in on halfs on a damaged Elise or vx220 as a project to start making a bit of decent cash profit.
