ive got a 2.0 mondeo engine in my 1.6 si and it was running fin up until a couple of weeks ago and then one morning i drove down the street and it was really really lumpy, i took it home and checked all the plugs no problem, i thought it was the spark plugs and leads so i changed them but that didnt fix it and then i noticed it was spitting out water so i thought oh great the head gasket has gone, i was kinda stupid at this pont and didnt do a compression test and just ripped the head off cause i was really annoyed, had it skimmed, cleanned up the block and pistons, bolted it all back together and now its still missing when you rev it and now its got a sticky tappet, i blame my engine builder friend who pulled it apart and said it was ok to come apart and then put it back in the head,
i just need to know where to go from there really, anyone had any problems similar or got any ideas im really stuck and can not think what to try next!!
PLEASE HELP ME

as for the sticking tappet, you got the right grade oil in it? you MUST run the right oil in zetecs otherwise they do this.
as for the missfire, you taken off leads to see if its one particular cylinder thats not firing? could be coilpack, in which case itll be running on two. could be a dodgey injector plug/blocked injector. could be the airflow meter, either the plugs come off or theres a big airleak, hose come off or something, ive had this before.
could be lots of things mate, start checking stuff one by one.

You must use 5/30 oil with the ZETEC is your in trouble. Are you using the Mondeo PAS pump? If not have you changed to a 1.8 water pump? Unless you use the modeo PAS pump, you must change the water pump on a silver top. If its a black top there is another work around that needs doing if you lose the PAS.
With the wasted spark system, if one cylinder is not firring it is more likely to be a fuel problem, knackered injector etc. Buy yourself an Bosch 2 pin Noid light from Partco and do some tests.

the sticky tappet wasnt stuck until the engine builder pulled it apart and then put it back together saying it would be fine, but its obviously not!!
oil in it is ok has been since day one
pas is off fiesta and has never caused a problem before
so i reckon its either a dodgy injector or dodgy coil pack gonna use my mates coil pack tomoz so that can be crossed off and the same lad has got a MAF as well so that leaves injectors!
will let you know what i find tomoz!
