Been waiting for this all evening.... Looks really interesting - shame it's such a sad subject

Without wanting to sound morbid, I am fascinated by the whole 9/11 attacks on the WTC's. I know it's possibly one of, if not THE worst terrorist attacks in our lifetime, but for some reason it's fascinating. Maybe just cos it's on such a huge huge scale, I don't know....

Plus, it scares the shit out of me. Every single time I see the video of those planes hitting it scares the shit out of me....

Stunning to watch, the bravery of everyone is immense.

I don't know what I would of thought if I was one of those Fireman sent there to help.

I agree though that there is worse to come and I can't see how things like this can be stopped, we have foiled a plot recently but at some point some other wankers will get what they want.

I fear for that day

These programs seriously interest me too.

Its such a sad program and we will never understand the real hurt, unlike the people who were actually there.

No it doesn't, but then when you understand HOW the building came apart and in what WAY it came down, it then begins to make sense....

Even then - it's FUCKING LUCKY

Have never looked at it like that and tbh I don't believe that theory.

I would say (although it was bad enough) that they were lucky that they fell straight down, it could of been even worse if they fell over

Some real heroes on that program, really enjoyed watching it even if it did nearly bring a tear to my eye

Don't personally believe a word of that video.

as mentioned on the C4 documentary there was a huge force of air where those guys were when the building fell down, this is what can be seen with the arrow in that vid.

I don't think anyone can predict what would heppen if you flew a large aeroplane into a skyscraper at 400mph.

Was so interesting to watch and such an eye opener especially the fireman that survived the tower coming down but then no one knew where they were JESUS. Seems unreal.

I have decided my next break away will be to visit ground zero to pay my respect, so may people I know have gone and have said its not until you vsit you realise the scale of it

I did that in June Zoe - it is VERY humbling. VERY humbling indeed. It's a somber, sad place, especially when you think of how many died there

It is also strangly quiet. Not just the people, but the traffic becomes quiet, as if everything for that one or two blocks just simply... stops. Everything goes away and it's quite eerie.

Then you walk "out" the other side of that section and you are back in noisy New York city again

One of my friends that went said on the day she visited ground zero there wasalot of firengines parked around with their lights flashing and she said it gave her goosebumps as so silent. When you see the footage like last night on t.v it dosnt seem real that a disaster like that could happen to the extent. is it true the firengines all fly a flag each withthe names of firemen that sadly passed away

Don't know about the fire engines themselves, but I stopped at a firehouse in central Manhattan when I was there, and in the entrance (where the trucks come out onto the street) there was a plaque on the wall with a photo and a name of each firefighter who died that belonged to that "ladder". One guy there told me that every firehouse in the city that lost a firefighter had the same thing, and if there was a "company" that was lucky enough not to lose a member, then they had pics up of friends or reletives who were firefighters that were lost. Very sad indeed.

And I agree about seeing it on TV makes it almost unreal, like something like that could never happen. Which is what I think fascinates me about it. I'm not interested in it in a morbid way, but more so that it was on such an unprecidented scale, and so "unreal" that it becomes fascinating. And you are also right - when you get there (Ground Zero) and see the place, the Iron Cross in the middle, the police, firefighters, and tributes/pictures/shrines, etc, it becomes VERY real and is quite quite chilling. Rather unsettling in a way, and very very moving. I was on the verge of tears myself, I have no problem admitting, whilst I stood there on the sidewalk outside the Ground Zero barriers reading the plaquards that were put up with all the info, times, dates, backround history and naturally, all the names of both civilians and fire dept/Police dept, etc who died in the attacks. I had to choke back a few for sure...
